What’s Your Story

Why Storytelling?
The power of stories is immense, and learning to unlock the potential of storytelling in your writing, work or organization can be transformative.
Whether you are crafting a memoir or want to integrate storytelling into your work or organization, I provide support and coaching throughout the process and help you discover the stories that sustain and guide you and your project. And just as importantly, together we uncover the stories that hold you back and prevent you from moving forward. The goal of the process is to discover what is really at the heart of your story and find your true voice.
As a story coach, I work with both individual writers and organizations to help them discover and craft their story. I teach workshops on storytelling and I am the founder and co-producer of On The Fly, a monthly story slam in the Hudson Valley.
“I will tell you something about stories . . They aren’t just entertainment. Don’t be fooled. They are all we have, you see, all we have to fight off illness and death.”
― Leslie Marmon Silko, Ceremony

Kind Words
Christina Thyssen is a phenomenal story coach, editor, and director. I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside her on several different occasions, and I’ve been very impressed by her keen sense of story and sharp editorial scalpel, not to mention her kind manner and wonderful wit. You and your story are in good hands with her! – Lea Thau, Creator & Host of Strangers, formerly Executive & Creative Director of The Moth
We made something together today at Harvard the likes of which people have rarely seen. It was an unforgettable afternoon which would not have gotten there without your expertise, wisdom, and persistence. We are in your debt. – Danielle Allen, James Bryant Conant University Professor and Director, Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, Harvard University
THANK YOU doesn’t event scratch the surface….but THANK YOU. Our speakers have come such a far way since that rehearsal and I SOOOOO appreciate your time and talent. Truly. I feel blessed that you said yes to us three years ago, not knowing we would keep asking you. Truly, deeply, I appreciate you and what you have done for the WBC and this program. You are this program. – Marna Redding, Women’s Business Council, Capital Region Chamber
You’re a really good coach. I knew I wanted to turn my public speaking toward storytelling. But I wasn’t sure how to do that. You worked with my completely unformed idea and helped me shape it my own way, at my own pace, and also imposed a standard and discipline that served as motivation and boundary. Thank you for your talent, wisdom, creativity and generosity. – Michael Rozyne, Founder & Evangelist, Red Tomato
